Common Problems with the Chevrolet Impala 4T65E & 4T65-HD Transmission

1) Erratic Shifting / Loss of Forward Gears

If you're experiencing Chevy Impala transmission problems like slipping, erratic shifting, or failed gear engagement, the causes could range from a failed 4T65E solenoid / 4T65E-HD solenoid, to a 4T65E torque convertor issue. The torque convertor itself is also fully remanufactured, and tested for leaks, concentricity and balance. There's a new torque converter support bearing that will help stop premature sleeve failure. The remanufactured pump gets an updated slide pivot pin, along with a solid Teflon pump driveshaft seal to prevent torque convertor slip and delayed gear engagement.

2) Loss of 4th Gear and/or Reverse

Another common problem with the Chevrolet Impala 4T65E & Chevrolet Impala 4T65E-HD are an inoperable fourth or reverse gear. These issues are often caused by design flaws in the Reverse Boost Valve, channel plate, and stripped splines on the 4th gear clutch hub shaft. To keep these Impala transmission problems from happening to you, every SST reman 4T65E transmission and reman 4T65E-HD transmission get a stronger hardened 4th clutch shaft, a redesigned Reverse Boost Valve, and a proprietary Tru-Flat qualification process is used on the channel plate, transmission case, pump and valve body.

How to Solve Chevrolet Impala Transmission Problems

Option A: Buy a Used Chevrolet Impala 4T65E or Used Chevrolet Impala 4T65E-HD Transmission

With the laundry list of design flaws listed above, would you really trust buying a used Chevy Impala transmission from the local junkyard? They have no real way to guarantee the condition of the internal components.
